Introducing Wine Clubs

Perpetuating the Love of Wine...
With Wine Clubs

Since the first wines were made on the slopes of the Armenian mountains, men and women have been fascinated by wine.

Sometimes, in fact, the power of wine has made humans do strange things; it has helped build empires and destroy them, it has made men lose their heads and even see the light again!

If you enjoy wine (like the Armenians), you may have asked yourself one time or another, whether wine clubs are a good way to experience this ancient beverage on a different level.

My purpose is to give you an overview of what wine clubs - also called wineclubs or wine of the month clubs - have to offer, so you can decide for yourself.

What is a Wine Club?

Those dwellers of the ancient Armenian mountain slopes of Ararat probably exchanged wine for food and other goods, but today wine is the center of a huge worldwide market.

Wine of the month clubs, which work mainly online, are trying to snatch you off the retail store lines, by offering you better prices and better, and more exclusive, wines.

In some cases, you are asked to commit to buying a certain number of the club's wine selections (typically every month or quarter). On the other hand, the good news is that membership is usually free, though there are a few exceptions, such as the London Wine Society

Man (or Woman) with a Plan

Basically, when you join a wine of the month club, you choose one of their wine plans and decide how many bottles of which types of wine you wish to receive (sometimes you can also choose the frequency).

Wine plans are usually based on origin (e.g. Spanish wines), varietal, aging style (e.g. Reserve wines), or groups such as Sweet wines or Champagne collection.

Many popular clubs also have a Connoisseur wine plan, for which they reserve their most exclusive and top-rated wines.

If you find a club with great customer service, like Cellars Wine Club, and a great expert panel, adept at finding and choosing excellent wines, you should join and give it a try.

You will find that even though millennia have passed, people haven't changed much. At least, our love of wine remains intact!

Wine Can Make Poets Of Us All...

Buying wine at the store can be a hassle. Sometimes you get ripped off and you can't complain to anyone! ;-)

On the other hand, buying wine via a club can offer you the personalized service you need, if you are really interested in learning more about wine in all its forms.

When you get that first case of wine in the mail, and you uncork an exotic wine from regions faraway, pour it into your crystal glass and taste it...

I hope you will be able to say, along with Omar Khayyam (a brilliant poet from Persia - another of the first wine regions in history):

"See! I clasp the cup whose power
Yields more wisdom in an hour
Than whole years of study give."

Besides the Glass

Besides the pleasure of tasting wines that might put you in such a mood, wine tasting clubs also offer numerous tasting events and extra benefits, such as discounts at partner stores and websites. The number and type of offerings varies depending on the club.

The Tasters Guild, for example, is the one of the best places if wine tasting clubs are your thing.

So be sure to check out the benefits of your prospective club, for your further enjoyment.

And in a nutshell, once you have found a great wine club, all you'll have to do is allow them to pamper you! What a lovely idea! :-)
