Wine Club UK

Wine Club UK...
Few Vines, Plenty of Wines

For climatic reasons, wine production in the UK is meager compared to its continental neighbors France or Spain. Notwithstanding, some of the most traditional wine clubs in the world are based in the UK.

Of course, UK wine clubs are not focused on the near 120 wineries functioning in the British Islands and the rest of the Commonwealth. In fact, they offer some of the widest selections of international wines that any wine club in the world can boast of.

The British Wine Supermarkets

Some of the biggest wine clubs in the UK are affiliated with large retail corporations. The Nectar Wine Club for example, is part of a loyalty program called Nectar points, which is affiliated with one of the largest supermarket chains in the UK. They offer good deals, but they hardly specialize on hand-picking great wines from yet undiscovered wineries.

Virgin Wines is another UK wine club offering a good selection from the countries with the largest wine production in the world.

The Sunday Times Wine Club also has a good selection, and they offer great customer service and different membership options, such as Tastes of Spain and Australian wines, depending on your taste.

Offering eight distinct wine plans to suit your every inclination, the Laithwaites Wine Club has a standard for quality that's well-established in the wine world; a great choice if you want to sip with style and total satisfaction.

The Wine Society

Perhaps because it was founded by three friends in 1874 and it has maintained its independent quality ever since (it is still a cooperative), The Wine Society enjoys the best reputation of all the wine clubs in the UK.

The cooperative's mission is to bring great wine to the people who love it, and all of its profits are reinvested to accomplish this. They have a great variety of wines from all over the world as well as top-notch wine cellars available for their members.

Though the Wine Society charges a membership fee, unlike most of its competitors, it is a great option for those of you who are really serious about getting to know more about wine and getting access to only the very best of the world's wine production.

Wine Fairs and Events

Because of the UK public's great interest in wine, there are many wine-related events all over the UK. Most prominently, the Tesco Wine Club Fairs offer a great opportunity for wine enthusiasts to meet their peers, attend wine conferences and join wine walks, as well as taste wines selected by some of the best local experts.

Flying High...

There are quite a few airlines that have also branched out to include their own wine club, which is a nice touch to offer you, as their customer.

As far as UK airlines go, the British Airways Wine Club is well-renowned for its consistent quality offerings while making sure you get a personalized tour of the wine world.

So all in all for the story of wine club UK, the UK may not be a big player in the international wine market, but its people, and its wine clubs, seem to know their wine. :-)
