Wine Club Application...
The Key to Great Wines

A wine club is a great option if you are looking to improve your wine buying habits; getting the best value for your money and boosting your wine knowledge at the same time.

Though most wine clubs are open to anyone willing to join in, there are some that have certain restrictions, and most of them will require you to fill out a wine club application.

Before you do fill out an application to join the wine club of your choice, you will need to make some decisions based on both your budget and your wine consumer patterns.

These days, wine clubs all over the world are offering an increasingly varied number of wine plans, and it is easy to feel a little disoriented if you haven't considered certain matters thoroughly first.

Choosing a Wine Plan

Besides your personal information, such as your credit card number and the address where you wish to receive the wine, your wine club application will include a section where you will have to specify which of their wine plans you want to subscribe to.

There are many considerations that will help you make an informed decision.

First of all, are you looking to build a wine cellar or do you want wine for immediate consumption? Do you wish to try wines from exotic regions or do you prefer to stick to established varietals from the world's top producers? Answering these and other similar questions will be a great help to you during the wine club application process.

Wine Plan Styles

Different wine clubs tend to categorize wine plans in different ways. Some of them, like the Sunday Times Wine Club for example, class wines according to where they come from, or even dedicate a wine plan to a single varietal (in this case, Riojas).

On the other hand, some American clubs such as the Washington State Wine Club base their wine plan categories on pricing, offering an affordable Vintage plan and a pricier Reserve selection, as well as a combined Premier series at a cost that lies somewhere in the middle.

When you join a winery-based wine club, you will generally have to choose between white and red and between different price ranges. As a matter of fact, almost any wine club application will ask you to establish your preference between red, white, and mixed selections.

Membership Agreement

Typically, a wine club membership is not binding in any way. There is usually a line in your membership agreement that says that you can decline to receive selections at any time. However, this has been the most frequent cause for customer complaints about wine clubs over the years; some wine clubs make it very hard for you to tell them that you are not interested in a selection.

What I mean to say is that you should be very vigilant when it comes to what your membership implies.

It is better, in a way, to have a binding agreement to buy a certain number of selections than to believe that you don't and then find out that you can't get out. In this respect, some clubs do require that you sign up for a minimum number of selections over a certain period of time.

The best advice I can give you in these matters is to check out your prospective wine club's reputation with customers...

...you can do this easily via the wine club reviews here on this website - simply choose the wine club region of your choice and follow your nose.

For example, some wine clubs that enjoy an impeccable reputation are Wine Express the Sideways Wine Club and the Cellars Wine Club among many others.

Whichever one of them you choose, it is important that you feel safe and protected when you fill out your wine club application. After all, it is your ticket to a world of great wines at affordable prices for as long as you shall desire.
