Sunset Wine Club... Savor the Golden Glow of a Sunset with the Best in the West
At a Glance
The Sunset Magazine Wine Club concentrates on the yields of the American western region. Whether you prefer robust reds or wonderful whites, they're committed to making sure you get the best from a selection of small, independent wine companies.
The Sunset Wine Club and its Sunset Magazine (on the go for over 100 years now) promote a philosophy for discovering the lesser-known wines of the region, enjoying them with the right food and bringing together good wine and good people.
Their Approach to Wine
This wine club covers the region's smaller vineyards from Washington to California and New Mexico.
One of the best aspects of this club is that they test each wine against various food types prepared by professional chefs from the region. If you're a wine enthusiast you'll know that food pairings can make or break an occasion, so ten points to Sunset for taking the guesswork out of food wine matching.
The Selection
Small wineries equate to smaller volumes of wine, which means with this club you have access to some of the most exclusive wines in the region.
The online wine shop is a portal through which to discover the panel's new and favorite wines, whether red, mixed red or white. Wines are categorized by month and type to make browsing easier.
Signing Up
We like the Sunset Magazine Wine Club because they have a clear idea about what makes wine people tick. In fact, they've built it all into their membership package.
The Sunset Select Wine membership includes:
two bottles per month;
monthly tasting notes and updated information about various wine varietals, regions and wineries;
a quarterly newsletter for travel and wine advice;
discounted pricing on re-orders; and
invitations and VIP access to exclusive Sunset events.
You certainly get a lot for the monthly membership fee of $19.95.
As for those re-orders, you enjoy 10% off any bottle and 15% off 12 or more bottles. There are also a gift membership options for $115 (three months), $245 (six months) and $505 (12 months).
Getting it Home
All prepaid membership fees include the shipping, so all you need to do is place the order and sign for it on arrival. Business addresses are recommended since an adult over the age of 21 needs to sign for deliveries.
Heard Through the Grapevine
More than just a delivery service, members really feel that they belong to something in the Sunset Wine Club. Non-members want to join and become a part of it! Being treated to big discounts on wine and special events is a big plus, and members really look forward to their two bottles of wine every month.
For less than $20 a month, members say the club offers great value for money and that they have no problem convincing their friends to join. :-)
