South Carolina Wine Club... Prepared in Mind and Resources
That's the actual slogan of this eastern, coastal state... and it describes South Carolina's wine history perfectly.
In the mid-1600s, the explorer Sir Walter Raleigh found wild Muscatine grapes... and his delight from back then has become your delight now. South Carolina's wine industry prospered almost immediately.
South Carolina boasts six different wineries that specialize in many varietals that you will probably recognize. Merlot, Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay are among your favorites found in South Carolina.
Finding South Carolina Wines
Of the wineries in South Carolina, almost all of them offer tastings for little or no money right at the winery, which is a fun way for you to sample some South Carolina wines.
As an alternative, Victoria Valley has a standard wine club, Brentwood Restaurant and Wine Bar has one that is pretty nontraditional (and a lot of fun), and La Belle Amie has some cool Internet specials that you can take advantage from your home PC.
Victoria Valley
Victoria Valley offers a South Carolina wine club that is in the tradition of Cellarmasters or 4 Seasons. You will receive quarterly shipments of wine, delivered right to your doorstep. The price is about $45 per shipment, and each package will contain two or three bottles of wine, depending on the price.
The best part of the Victoria Valley wine club is that you will receive limited release or first-try wines... leaving you a step ahead of other wine drinkers.
Other perks include savings on Victoria Valley wines, especially the featured wines. You will get 10% off from the retail price of these wines, but can rack up savings of 15% if you order the featured wine by the case.
Brentwood Restaurant and Wine Bar
This elegant establishment offers a South Carolina wine club that you can take full advantage of if you live in the area. Instead of having wines delivered to your door, hand selected by a seasoned sommelier, YOU get to be the sommelier.
Once each month, the chef at Brentwood will put together a five-course meal based on a particular theme. The guests that attend the dinner will each bring a bottle of wine that reflects the theme. It's a great way for you to sample many different kinds of wine while enjoying an awesome gourmet meal and the company of many other wine drinkers.
Guests must have a reservation, and attendance is very limited. Attending one dinner makes you a shoe-in for the following dinners, if you find you enjoy these get-togethers. You can even bring a dinner date! The fee is $20 for just you, or $35 if you attend the wine club dinner with a guest.
Smiling Faces, Beautiful Places
This South Carolina slogan also seems to be tailored right to the wine trails and tours in this area. You will meet plenty of friendly people, see some unique scenery, and partake in some world-class libations in the rural settings of these wineries.
Really, when it comes to South Carolina wines and South Carolina wine clubs, you can only go wrong if you pass on these fun opportunities.
Make plans to attend the Brentwood dinner, or just sign up for a club and start sampling some authentic, home-grown South Carolina wines.
