Much in the tradition of the London Wine Society, the Ontario Wine Society is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing educational tastings and events in an informal atmosphere. The difference between the two societies lies in that while the former also functions as a wine of the month club, the latter does not offer such wine selections.

The Wine Society of Ontario will be perfect for you, if you are an Ontario wine lover looking for guidance in the fascinating world of your favorite beverage. It is based on a marriage of educational and social goals that seldom goes wrong.

As a member, you will be exposed to the best varietals and vintages from the Ontario region and beyond.

The club stresses the importance of informality and affordability, as well as the quality of the events presented, the credentials of their wine experts, and the prestige of their award programs.

With an excellent array of partner wineries, the Society also offers exclusive discounts and pre-releases on some of this prolific region's best wines.

Tastings with Pizazz

At this moment, I would like you to picture your stereotyped idea of a wine tasting: people dressed formally, a string quartet in the background, everything so quiet and proper, almost a little bit boring... Now, forget about all of that.

Welcome to the Ontario Wine Society's tastings.

This is my favorite aspect of this wine society; namely, the variety and originality of their thematic tastings and dinners. I would certainly have loved to attend one of their Wine & Jazz matching events, the Blind tastings, their Gadget, Gizmos, and Games Extravaganza or the Victorian Banquet!

If you are also in it for the fun and excitement of this kind of fun learning experiences, you will definitely love the Society.

Membership & Benefits

The three local chapters of the Society (Toronto, Oakville, and Niagara) offer annual memberships at $40, which are renewed every April.

As soon as you join, you get a discount of $10 on the price of every tasting event ticket. Given that they offer a minimum of 8 to 10 tasting events (usually more) per year, the membership will easily pay for itself.

As a member, you will also receive a newsletter, and you will have access to special events, most notably the fabulous Annual wine dinner as well as several other glamorous gatherings, where great wines and great food will never be missed.

So, if you are seeking a wine education as well as first-class wining, dining, and entertainment; this Wine Society based in Ontario will do the trick.
