One thing that sets it apart is the possibility to combine products from all the different Gourmet Monthly clubs. This can be a total selling point if you are a wine & cheese lover like myself.
The wine selection process is another key aspect for choosing a wine club. The Gourmet Monthly Wine Club has a great tasting panel. While mainly devoted to the top-ten wine regions of the world, they have, on occasion, selected wines from other countries.
Collectors, Lead the Way
There are three different wine plans at the Gourmet Monthly Wine Club. The Collectors series is the priciest option, offering the highest quality wines. I actually saw the packaging and all the details of one of the deliveries. Everything looked impeccable. I checked the track record and market value of the wines selected and they were both of great quality.
The Premier series is the most affordable option, while the Masters plan offers you the opportunity to mix wines from the Collectors and the Premier series, for a taste of both worlds.
All of the memberships include a very informative and nicely designed newsletter with wine details, food-pairing notes and recipes.
Whatever, Whenever
This is definitely my favorite part of the Gourmet Monthly Wine Club. They have a plan called Whatever, Whenever, which allows you to purchase combined memberships for the different monthly gourmet clubs.
For example, you could alternatively receive wine and cheese, or you could get chocolate one month, wine the next, and flowers the following month. Your imagination is really the limit, as they say on the website. :-)
Pricing & Delivery
When you join the Gourmet Monthly Wine Club, the frequency of your deliveries is up to you. You can choose to receive them every month, bi-monthly or quarterly. There is however a minimum purchase of two shippings.
All of the wine plans consist of 2-bottle packages.
The Premier series goes for $43 including shipping, while the Collectors series costs $79, and the price of the mixed Masters series is $59.
They ship anywhere in the US, except for Alaska, Hawaii, Massachusetts, and Utah.
