Combine Food and Wine via a Food Wine Pairing Club
A Food Wine Pairing Club is... More than Wine
The experience of tasting great wine is never complete unless it is accompanied by food that is just perfect for it. It might be a simple snack, a certain type of cheese, or an elaborate gourmet dish; as a demanding wine lover, you will always welcome successful food and wine pairing.
Wining and Dining
Not everybody who loves wine, or knows a little bit about it, is also adept at selecting the perfect dish for each type of wine. If you are looking to become an expert in the matter, with the added pleasure of tasting great food and wine during the learning process, joining a food and wine pairing club will be a great idea.
It doesn't have to be a club specially dedicated to pairing food and wine. Actually, most wine clubs include food pairing suggestions with their wine selections. However, if you are looking to go beyond just reading about what could be good, and actually taste it, there are many wine clubs which offer regular wine and food tasting experiences.
Food and Wine Selections
Typically, certain clubs will only offer food as part of a wine tasting event. Nevertheless, there are certain major online clubs dedicated to wine and cheese selections and wine gift baskets, such as the
Gourmet Monthly Wine Club
These will take you to the next level in food wine pairing clubs... you will be able to actually purchase wine accompanied by food that tastes great with it.
The downside is that these large food wine pairing clubs might include special biscuits designed to accompany red or white wine and other such mass produced snacks; clearly not a connoisseurs idea of excellent food wine pairing...
Wine and Cheese
Wine and cheese clubs are also abundant these days. Now, it is hard to for me to be impartial here, since I am passionate about the combination. If you love wine and cheese as much as me, you should go ahead and join one of them; for example,
Cheese and Wine Unlimited
Enthusiastic as I am, I also recommend you perform a little experiment: before joining, find out about the cost of the cheese and wine in one of their offerings elsewhere, add it up, and see how good a deal you are getting. Sometimes it seems to me clubs charge too much for all the fluff around the real goods.
Eat, Drink, Cook
My suggestion, if you are really serious about the matter, is that you find an amazing wine club, not necessarily a food wine pairing club, but a great wine club that offers many opportunities to both learn about and taste gourmet food with their chosen wines.
The Wine Society
of London is a good choice in the UK, while the Tasters Guild of New York, and other local chapters of this prestigious organization are a great option in America.
If you find a wine club that offers affordable wine and food tasting events and dinners... where the wines are chosen as carefully as the food, and wine selections come to you accompanied by food pairing recipes that actually work, (and that you can cook with ingredients that you don't have to fly over to France to get a hold of)... I think you shall be satisfied in every way.
