Dog Lovers Wine Club... Canines and Fine Wines – Who Would've Thought?
At a Glance
This wine club was born from a union between the Carivintas Winery and a few animal shelters across the States. Dogs and wine might seem like strange bedfellows, but if you appreciate pooches and excellent-quality wine, then this is where you need to be.
The club is also actively involved with and donates to a number of art, science and humanitarian charities and organizations.
Their Approach to Wine
The club prides itself on its artistic approach to labeling, and each "wine of the month" label features a new dog illustration on the bottle.
The Selection
The Carivintas Winery makes and sells its own wine, and also works in conjunction with other small wineries in California, the majority of which are in the Santa Barbara area.
Signing Up
As a member, you can have wine delivered to you monthly, bimonthly or quarterly. Membership also includes the following:
20% discount on current wines and merchandise;
previews and pre-sale notices of futures (wines that have been made but not yet bottled) and limited-edition wines at discount pricing; and
discounts on wine and pet accessories.
Getting it Home
All deliveries must be signed for by an adult over the age of 21 and shipping costs are billed to your credit card on the day your order is shipped.
Heard Through the Grapevine
Only bona fide dog lovers could drink a bottle of wine with a dog's face on it! ;-)
The zeal for doing goodwill, I think, is misplaced in a wine club – especially if you're trying to move bottles of your own wine at the same time. Perhaps the owners should consider separating their business from their charity work.
