Another wine club co-owned by expert wine mogul Tony Laithwaite of London, the Four Seasons Wine Club is a well respected American online wine retailer. As its name indicates, it offers four quarterly wine selections a year, one for each of the seasons.
It shares many characteristics with yet another wine club that has Tony Laithwaite behind it, namely, the
Wall Street Journal Wine Club
- it offers a very similar selection, lacking in variety outside the range of American and French wines. It also delivers across the US, with some restrictions.
Pricing & Benefits
The Four Seasons Wine Club offers quarterly red, white or mixed 12-bottle cases, with the first introductory one going for $69.99, with a lever-style corkscrew included as a gift; just like the Wall Street Journal Wine Club.
Each case you receive will include tasting notes and detailed information on each of the wines included, plus a detailed offer for your next case, which you will have to review. If you don't communicate with them, they will assume that you want in on their next selection, so you'll have to pay attention to this.
Delivery
Though shipping costs are not specified on the 4 Seasons Wine Club's website, customers have reported them to be currently just under $20 for a case.
As I mentioned before, the Four Seasons Wine Club does not deliver nationwide, and it doesn't deliver the same wines everywhere, so, it is good to check and inquire. Deliveries can take from 10 to 14 days.
By logging into their website, for example, I discovered that they would deliver certain foreign wines to New York but not to Alabama. All you have to do to find out how your state stands is enter your state code at the top of the webpage to find out what the situation is with your location.
Customer Service
Customers with no extraordinary wine knowledge and average expectations seem to be pleased with the Four Seasons Wine Club, which is recommended by a couple of other online wine club directories and bloggers.
However, some customers have reported issues with returning wine and canceling subscriptions, as well as delays in receiving refunds for returned cases.
Generally speaking though, most customers agree that the 4 Seasons Wine Club offers good value wines; it can't be said that it is the best wine club around, but it certainly works just fine.
